The search is on for creativeSHIFT community members / Apply now until September 18th / For more information visit www.creativeshift.eu
Starting today, creative minds active in the content industry are invited to apply to become members of a new European-wide community called creativeSHIFT. The aim of the creativeSHIFT project is to foster the competitiveness of Europe’s creative industries and to make a decisive contribution to shaping future EU innovation policies. That involves building up a strong network of European innovation drivers from the key areas of gaming, publishing, music and audiovisual. Launched and organised by the Börsenvereinsgruppe (German Publishers and Booksellers Association Group) together with its European partner organisations, the 18-month creativeSHIFT project will focus on choosing and developing ten market-ready business concepts. The project community will also submit substantive recommendations to EU policymakers as to how they can best frame policies to benefit innovation in the content industry and thereby foster success.
"Our aim with the creativeSHIFT project is to expand and accelerate the development of innovative products and business models in the European creative industries. Participants in this one-of-a-kind project will have access to key knowledge, information and mentoring for their own projects while simultaneously becoming part of a strong network of actors committed to developing future-oriented ideas for the creative industries. We’re looking forward to exploring a wealth of new ideas designed to boost the work of publishers, bookstores and other media companies." Alexander Skipis, managing director of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (German Publishers and Booksellers Association) and spokesperson of the Börsenvereinsgruppe
Members of the creativeSHIFT community can expect a comprehensive programme that includes the following:
• participation in knowledge-sharing webinars in September/October 2020
• participation in a “Content Innovation Inspirathon” in November 2020
• joint work on ten different challenges, development of prototypes and minimum viable products
• attendance at key industry gatherings in 2021, including the Frankfurt Book Fair and other events in the areas of gaming and music
• participation in the “Creative Innovation Investment Forum 2021” including the “Best Content Innovation 2021 Awards” ceremony
• final event in November 2021 in Milan
All companies and startups that are active in the creative industries and have experience in the areas of innovation and business development are invited to apply until September 18th 2020.
The final members of the creativeSHIFT community will be selected by the Börsenvereinsgruppe and their creativeSHIFT partner organisations: the Berlin-based investor network Media Deals, the Spanish production company Mediapro, the German-French games accelerator SpielFabrique and the Music Innovation Hub (MIH) based in Italy. The project’s network partners are the European Federation of European Publishers (FEP) and the European Music Council (EMC).
creativeSHIFT is funded by the EU Commission
The creativeSHIFT project is an initiative of the Börsenvereinsgruppe in cooperation with its project partners. The EU Commission will provide funding for the project as part of a budget totalling €650,000.
The promotion of international innovation is not uncharted territory for the Börsenvereinsgruppe. Since 2016, the group has been organising the CONTENTshift accelerator, which provides mentoring to founders, connects young entrepreneurs to industry heavyweights and chooses an annual “Content Startup of the Year”. Starting in 2014, the “CONTENTshift startup club” has also offered startups a special association membership in the Börsenverein.
